February 19, 2025
Infosec IQ clients will have access to world-class curriculum and resources that equip students of all ages with cybersecurity, privacy and digital citizenship skills
Mason, Ohio — February 19, 2025 — Infosec Institute, a leading cybersecurity education provider and part of Cengage Group, today announced a partnership with Common Sense Media, the leading nonprofit organization dedicated to helping young people thrive in a world of media and technology. Together, they are launching "K-12 Digital Citizenship," a series within the Infosec IQ security awareness training platform designed specifically for K-12 students. This collaboration brings age-appropriate cybersecurity, privacy and digital citizenship curriculum to classrooms across the nation.
One out of every eight children in the U.S. had their identity exposed in a data breach over the past six years, according to Javelin Strategy & Research. K-12 Digital Citizenship addresses the growing need for early cybersecurity education, empowering students to navigate the digital world safely and responsibly. The series is co-branded with Common Sense Media, whose resources are used by over 1.4 million educators and administrators to teach critical topics, including online safety, privacy protection, responsible social media use and digital citizenship.
"As a leader in cybersecurity training for more than two decades, we believe cybersecurity education should be accessible to everyone," said Bret Fund, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Infosec. "With students increasingly exposed to the internet and digital devices from a young age, it's crucial to equip them with the knowledge and skills to stay safe online at their age. Partnering with Common Sense Media, a trusted resource for educators and families, allows us to deliver engaging and effective content that resonates with young learners."
The K-12 Digital Citizenship series within Infosec IQ offers a variety of interactive modules, videos and lesson plans designed for different grade levels. This comprehensive approach makes it easy for educators to integrate cybersecurity education into their curriculum. Some of the key benefits of K-12 Digital Citizenship include:
- Age-appropriate content: Tailored videos and lesson plans are designed specifically for K-12 students.
- Comprehensive curriculum: Essential cybersecurity, privacy and digital citizenship topics help students build cyber secure habits.
- Easily accessible: Administrators can utilize Cyber School content in their pre-existing educational and cybersecurity awareness programs.
- Created by experts: Common Sense Media and Infosec are industry leaders in education around digital citizenship and cybersecurity.
"At Common Sense Media, we've spent 20 years working closely with educators to understand how young people navigate the digital world and what skills they need to thrive," said Yvette Renteria, Chief Program Officer at Common Sense Media. "This partnership with Infosec combines our deep understanding of digital literacy with Infosec's cybersecurity expertise to help all students be smart, safe and responsible digital citizens."
K-12 Digital Citizenship will be available to all Infosec IQ clients in the spring of 2025. This initiative reinforces Infosec's commitment to providing cybersecurity education for everyone, from young students to seasoned professionals.
