What cybersecurity certification should I get first?
If you’re new to cybersecurity, start with the foundation. CompTIA Network+ can help you build networking knowledge, while CompTIA Security+ is a common starting point for core security concepts. If you already have IT or cybersecurity experience, take the quiz to see whether you’re ready for a more role-specific certification.

What comes after CompTIA Security+?
Security+ gives you a strong cybersecurity foundation. What comes next depends on where you want to go. SOC analysts may move toward CompTIA CySA+. Penetration testers may look at CEH or PenTest+. If cloud security is your goal, AWS, Microsoft Azure or CCSP training may make more sense. Take the quiz for a personalized recommendation or use the roadmap to compare paths.

Do I need CompTIA Security+ before other cybersecurity certifications?
Not always. Security+ can be a strong starting point, especially if you’re newer to cybersecurity. But if you already have advanced training or certifications, going backward may not make sense. Your next certification should build on what you know and move you closer to the work you want to do.

Are there AI certifications for cybersecurity professionals?
Yes. AI training now spans technical security, penetration testing, risk, audit and security management. In the quiz, choose “Yes” if you want AI-focused training included with your results. Choose “Not sure” if you’re interested in AI but don’t yet know how it fits your role.
