1. Average cost of data breach surpasses $4 million for many organizations
Beyond the immediate costs of a data breach, almost half of the total costs occur more than a year after the incident, says IBM Security.
2. T-Mobile Pitches $4-Per-Customer Settlement for Data Leak Impacting 80M
After leaking 80 million US customer data records in a cyberattack last summer, T-Mobile offers to settle a wide-ranging class action suit for just $350 million.
3. Uber admits covering up massive 2016 data breach in settlement with US prosecutors
Uber admitted to covering up a massive cybersecurity attack that took place in October 2016, exposing the confidential data of 57 million customers and drivers, as part of a settlement with the US Department of Justice to avoid criminal prosecution.
4. Cyberspies use Google Chrome extension to steal emails undetected
A North Korean-backed threat group tracked as Kimsuky is using a malicious browser extension to steal emails from Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge users reading their webmail.
5. Phishing campaign targeted 10,000 firms with BEC fraud
Earlier this month, Microsoft reported that roughly 10,000 businesses were attacked in a months-long adversary-in-the-middle (AiTM) campaign that raked in estimated millions in financial fraud.
